Charge cards or credit cards are the fantastic financial tool that was first introduced to customers in the twentieth century. Their popularity and convenience have led to an incredible growth in the charge card industry and have spawned hundreds of cards from which customers can choose. Today credit cards have become so specific that even speciality shops and boutiques are offering their own form of charge card to their clients. The reason for this is simple - charge cards are a win-win situation. People who would otherwise be unable to buy what they needed immediately are now able to make their purchases and pay for them when they have the resources while credit companies make money on the interest charges that accumulate on outstanding balances.

When our grandparents were young they had to scrimp and save to buy what they wanted or needed. If they did not have the cash, then they had to do without. However, with the introduction of charge cards, people were given the freedom to choose when and how they would make their purchases and were given the privilege of paying back the balance when they had the money. These handy cards helped boost the economy and helped people lead a more comfortable life.

Despite their advantages and practicality, charge cards do have their downside. If you are not disciplined enough to pay off your balance at the end of each month or to make more than just your minimum payment then you can quickly find yourself in serious debt - a scenario that you should avoid at all costs.
